How did I miss it? I’ll never know.
Now she’s in college. Now at her job.
What happened to toys, those thing-a-ma-bobs?
She used to play dollies, Barbie and Ken.
She used to play tea-time now and again.
Now she’s a mommy. Now she’s full grown.
No longer here, now she’s out on her own.
How did it happen? When did she grow?
How did I miss it? I’ll never know.

I was sitting here, thinking about my grandchildren when this poem wrote itself.
